Federal Poverty Line

  • 22.3% of individuals living in Marin City are living at or below the federal poverty line. (American FactFinder)

Self-Sufficiency Standard

  • The Insight Center for Community Economic Development cites $61,897 as the self-sufficiency standard for a single adult living in Marin County. (Ref
    • According to U.S. Census 2017 inflation-adjusted earnings data, 47.5% of income earners (individuals 16-years-old and older reporting earnings) in Marin City have incomes less than $$65,000 annually. (Income levels are segmented. This reflects the closest breakdown, the $50,000 - $64,999 segment.) (Ref)

In the 2017-18 school year, just over 51.5% of students at Bayside MLK did not meet the Level 1 standard for English Language Arts/Literacy (Ref). This result can be compared to the average for Marin County, in which 16.8% of students did not meet the Level 1 standard (Ref), the average for California in which 25.7% did not meet the Level 1 standard (Ref), and the percentage for nearby Willow Creek Academy in which 22.4% of students did not meet the Level 1 standard (Ref).

The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) ranks the Marin City census tract 6041129000 for drinking water as follows: "The drinking water contaminant percentile is 17, meaning it is higher than 17% of the census tracts in California." (Ref)
